Thanksgiving Weekend
What a glorious time it was! I got out of school, met up with Lucas, and "listened to Hendrix" in his favourite spot outside the music building. It's a very nice place, with benches and all. Sort've like the garden next to the movies at P&T. Then it was home to pack. I wasn't 100% sure of when my bus was coming, but my computer was already broken and packed away, so I had to guess. Turns out I missed it. So I went down the hill to Shelbourne, confident the 27/28 would get my close enough. Turns out it goes right outside the PCL. Hot damn. Got in line, met up with Jess, got on the bus, and off to the ferries we did go. Got on and off without incident, met my mother downtown, and I was home!
I got home just after ten. I made a few calls and it turned out Christina was having a birthday party! She's got the best place to party in West Van. It's on Marine, but it's above all the businesses, so there are no neighbours to annoy. I got to meet up with all the usual suspects, who were kind enough to keep me from going thirsty despite the fact that, because my dad was getting Heather from the airport, I hadn't been able to get to a liquor store. Good thing too, 'cause I was dead tired and didn't want to stay too long. Everyone was there, so I got to get some face time with people I would've felt guilty about not seeing this weekend. On a side note, Ceara is talking to Madeleine again, and my name came up. I really should give her a call, she's right down the street... Anyways, everyone was surprised I was even there, but Party Dave doesn't miss the party! I got home about 2am and had to sleep in Alex's room, what with the rest of the house full of visiting family.
Saturday I was up fairly early and started doing laundry. Alex got home from his IB retreat, so my room was now the living room with a blow up mattress. Despite having Thanksgiving dinner on the Sunday, we still had 14 people for dinner. Due to some bad planning/communication, by the time the guests were arriving everything I owned was wet or washing. I had to grab the least dirty of my clothes and borrow some of my dad's pants. Everyone thought I looked very good. Who knew? Stephan, a family friend we haven't seen in ages was invited, and we played some Castle Crashers until dinner. Now I've got another XBL friend! Gotta love 'em. Dinner was excellent, desert was excellent, and when it was all done I jumped in my car once again and was off to get Sean and head out to Kits to visit Drea. Geordie showed up too. Don't you love it when friends get along with friends? We watched the latest Office on Drea's laptop. Sean was rather confused by her MacBook. He tried to play the movie and ended up bookmarking a page and watering her turtle. I'm serious. It was an amazing episode. Then we found some late night grub, walked the streets, and generally made chit chat. It was nice and relaxing. Plus I hadn't talked to Sean in fucking ages thanks to my computer troubles, so sillyness did abound. Left around 2, but Sean had bought an XBOX game (yes, he doesn't have the system.) It was one of the original releases for the XBOX, Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee, the next part in an epic saga. Unfortunately it was a bit glitchy on the 360, and I was dead tired, so I only got to fuck around for the first level or two. Took Sean home, got to sleep about 430am.
Sunday. I woke up five hours later because I was sleeping in the living room, so once someone else is up, I'm up. Rousted myself out of bed and got everything going. I gave Tristan a call and hung out with him, Tor, Steak, and Colton. Went to Tor's new place in PH and watched Shoot 'Em Up. Man that is a funny movie. I love everything about it. Apparently there's a parking lot on the roof of Cap Mall that no one can park in. So I got my board and skated around there for a while. So much fun. This made me lose track of time, so by the time I got back to my car and back to my house I had missed my ride, meaning I had to drive out to Langley with Alex myself. We were only a few minutes behind them anyways, so all was well. There I got to mingle with my cousins and the rest of my extended family for a giant Thanksgiving dinner/birthday party for my mother. Watched some hockey, drank some beer, ate some food. The perfect Sunday. I got home and was ABOUT to promptly pass out, but instead played some Co-op N+ with Alex. We ninja'd up a storm, switching controllers to fit our strengths and generally dominating. Then the lack of sleep and turkey sitting in my stomach caught up with me and I slept VERY deeply.
Monday. This was the day I was looking forward to. I got up early and got Tristan. Why? He has extra 360 controllers. He was our fourth. It was time to crash the castle. Sean, the individual who first alerted me to CC in the first place, since he doesn't own the system, had yet to play it. I had to leave for the 9pm ferry, so our time was short. We started at 11am and played through to 230pm, when our quest was cut short by the parents needing the living room. A quick change to Sean's place, at the cost of our fourth, got us up and running again. We beat the game just after six. With four players we were done at level 20; with two you are closer to 35. Four players is pretty hectic, but I think the ideal number is two. You play off each others weaknesses and you can maintain a high enough level to use all your weapons once you get them. I managed to remember all the animal orb locations except for a few you had to dig up in the later levels, which I missed due to the lack of resolution on Sean's TV. It was an epic day. Then I had to rush home, pack, sort out my laptop repair, and get to the ferry on time. Without a laptop I didn't have any movies, games, or work to fill the time, so I napped.
All in all it was an amazing weekend. All the timing worked out, I got to see everyone I planned to see(except Shona, but she was sick and wouldn't let my anywhere near her) and got everything done I needed to.
Then it all went to shit. I got off the bus. My longboard and electronics back was there. My duffel bag was not. Either I managed to forget to tag my bag (which I remember doings since I had to ask the clerk for the tags) or they misplaced it. Either way, I have no clothes and my back up data for the computer I just turned into get repaired is lost. I am a bit on edge. I've called them a few times now but it seems they aren't open or something. I get to the public transit, letting the #4 bus run past me, since it doesn't get me as close as the #27/#28. About ten minutes later a pedestrian informs me that he's walked all the way from James Bay because the buses are running on Sunday's schedule due to the holiday. This means I've missed the last bus. This also means I can't take the last ferry home anymore unless I want to cab from downtown. I can skate home if I don't have my big bag with me (which I didn't, funny that.) But I called Preston and he came to get me. I payed for gas though, they aren't exactly rolling in funds right now.
So now I'm back in Victoria and I'm a bit on edge. I've got one more class to go and a mountain of work to get through. I was all set to prioritize my work load and really put school first, and now I might have lost everything I have to wear and the back up of my school work, my music, fucking everything. October is really rocking now.
In other news my Topato order came in, so I'm sporting my Australian indoor-rules Quiddich shirt. I'm also taking steps towards my genie costume for Halloween. It should be great.

EDIT: I have my luggage. I did tag it properly, it just never made it on the bus.
